Indian Ocean

Leaving Home: This fluent piece based mainly on a constant acoustic rhythm composed in guitar and the tabla, dwells on modern pastoral mythology. According to Indian Ocean, "there is no golden past, yet we seek it ultimately. We want to leave home, and then, one day, we seek to return. But we can never go back to where we came from, because, home has changed,and in many ways, so have we".

Ma Rewa: This is a more conventional piece composed by the Indian Ocean in accordance to a traditional hymn from Madhiya Paradesh about the Narmada. The Narmada has been a constant source of prose and poetry to many. Indian Ocean has interpreted the original beauty of the river and the planned destruction that is inevitable in the natural world.

Kandisa: Written and composed originally as a hymn by the Syrian Christians in Aramaic, a biblical original; this song had been modified to sound Indian by the copiers. This song due to its origins, undoubtedly, is spiritual by

Kandisa

"Kandisa", as prononced in Aramaic means "praise", is the word used to describe the theme to this devotional fusion by Indian Ocean - an Indian classical-folk themed group based in New Delhi. I have been to a couple of their concerts when I was there as a college student and I can tell you that they are good... fluent, earthly and free, it feels like an extended jamming session refined to perfection. If you are into spiritual stuff, this is a must have for u... it's also a favourite to non-conventional Indian Classical lovers...

The Tokyo station building reconstructed after WW2 still represents the epitome of post Meiji construction. Built in 1914, the building's neo-renaissance architecture was ment to symbolize Japan's rise as a "civilized" nation. Situated in the heart of the Chiyoda Ward the Marunouchi wing does feel out of place among other modern steel and glass structures.
